Got a 24 SR5 with the 6 ft bed and the oem cargo mat in the back
Looking to see if there's any kind of storage boxes that can mount in the back that can be used to put stuff in from grocery runs or hardware store trips during really rainy or windy days just to keep stuff out of the weather
I will eventually get a tonneau cover but i like being able to use the led bed lights at night and i know they will be covered up once i put a bed topper on
Ive seen a storage box from rough country but it just sits in the back without a lid of anyway to close it off from the weather im thinking something almost like a toolbox would work but not a toolbox just something with decent storage and a lid or ability to close off
Thanks everyone!

Your budget and expectations come to mind.

In my case I need maximum flexibility. I use the truck with a Fas-Top (tonneau and Topper in one) so open bed plus two sorts of covers. For decades I've used the OG better mouse trap Rubbermaid Action-Packer boxes in two sizes. Two are still holding up after decades of use. I also have a net that easily clips near the tailgate and two of same ratcheting cargo bars. The cargo bars can hold boxes in place. I also have a stretch net that can cover the whole bed.

I'm particular about setup from long ago being a flatbed and drop deck semi driver so if the pickup bed is open with Fas-Top rolled up I secure what can move with the bars, straps, and the stretching net can go over a tarp. The all of it was not expensive and works well.

I have an action packer. The large one. Fits 2 carry ons

I also have a rooftop cargo bag I keep in the action packer. It's large...has a zipper and packs down if I need to store large items out of the elements.

Thirdly, I have a pelican bx55s
Its small. Mounted to the side rails. Great for tools and bike stuff. Doesn't fit much though

I had similar thoughts. I had never used a tonneau cover previously, so went cheap to test it out. Figured I can upgrade to an expensive one if I like it. I then bought a Home Depot shelf bin for the groceries, and cut a stick for a retainer. For light I jut pop over the last hinge of the tonneau. However, I have seen light kits for the expensive units. The Amazon covers run $300 to $400, the HD bin was $15.
