Ive had every gen Tacoma brand new from the factory. Drove the 3rd gen for 8 years. It seemed outdated because it was. They hadnt changed the chassis since 2005. I didnt realize how shitty it was until i got the 4th gen. 2nd and 4th gens are the best. The 2ng gens were great for the time period they were in.

Good write up and mostly agree. I’m about to post a thread on mine soon, it’s currently at 17,500 km and 10 months of ownership. I will say it took the 4th gen to get me in a Tacoma, I’d kept away after sitting in 2nd gen in 2006. The 3rd gen - or 2.5 as I call it - was a huge disappointment.

I do have a couple gripes not mentioned but the wireless CarPlay is not one of them. My iPhone XR was good after the first 3 months or so and my iPhone 16 has had zero issues after 3 months.

Engine/Transmission (automatic due to 6 foot bed requirement) combo has been great??.

A preview of my gripes:
The no trailer break controller thing - really Toyota???
Interior plastics
Rear seat leg room
Turning radius
Thin paint
The little seat flap part getting scrunched
