Off to another project, yet again. I picked up a pair of Heretic 2-LED pod lights and wanted to hook them up as reverse lights. So I had to devise a mounting strategy... My initial thought was to prototype some mounts on my printer and then make them out of metal, but to be honest, using some ABS-GF filament and printing them thicker, I decided to see how they'd do with some heat inset threads. They ended up incredibly strong and given they're not supporting a ton of weight, I think these will do, but still considering a metal option.
Our trucks conveniently have 2 holes in the frame where the hi-jack mounts go. Since I won't ever be using a hi-jack, figured this would be the optimal mounting location. After printing the brackets, a bit of post processing was required to get the heat inset threads in properly, as I wanted to be able to thread the the bolts from the other side of the bracket so that the inset wouldn't come out once the bolts are torqued down. Nonetheless, here's my progress thus far - I still need to figure out how I'm going to wire these, most likely will tap off the 7-pin using a premade harness but not too sure yet. Think these lights will work out great to give us better reverse visibility.
