I've been reading around about bed stiffeners, and it generally seems like people recommend them when mounting a few hundred pounds to the bedsides.
I'm running a fiberglass shell, roof rack, awning, shovel, tool box, and 8 gallon water tank, so this setup would definitely fall under the category of "you need bed stiffeners."
So, I purchased a set. But I've done quite a few wheeling trips pre-bed stiffeners and never noticed anything that would indicate I need them.
I'm curious what people think about bed stiffeners. Has anyone ever noticed something wrong and gone "oh crap I need bed stiffeners?" Any deformation or bending? Have they made a noticeable difference in something once installed? Or is it another unnecessary accessory we're being told we need but actually don't?
