  1. Don’t get the 2024 SR5 !

As to the "rental car" comment... For the first 40 years of my life, every time I'd get in a rental car, my first thought was always "wow, this is nicer than any car I've ever owned." You have a new truck. You're doing better than the vast majority of people. Enjoy it.
  2. Ditch/Pod Lights

FYI: If you have lights in this position, pointed straight ahead, they will glare off your hood. Even with spots. The purpose of these lights is to pointed to the side and down to see in the... Ditch (Hence the name).
  3. Don’t get the 2024 SR5 !

The SR5 Taco is a killer truck. There are more SR5 trim Yotas in the world than any other trim level. Most people would be more than stoked to drive one. Don't like it? Sell it and get something else.
  4. 4th gen with kids?

How tall are you and your wife? That's the biggest factor here. I'm 6' with longer legs, and my driver's seat is pushed back enough that a big kid would be cramped behind me. My wife is 5'-6", and there's plenty of room behind her seat. If you and your wife are both shorter, the Taco will...
  5. Failing the 4H Test?

The pop was probably the transfer case engaging or disengaging. How I test modern 4 wheel drive trucks: - Find a gravel parking lot. - Drive in a circle in 2wd. Remember how it feels in that gravel. - Switch to 4High. Wait for the light to stop blinking. If it takes more then 5sec, slowly roll...
  6. Heritage Grill Camera Swap - Observations

I can't argue there... They don't make it easy! It's a bunch of lines around the truck, and some X's off the corners. I plan to stick a bunch of blue painters tape on my shop floor based on those dimensions.
  7. Heritage Grill Camera Swap - Observations

In the file that @Delta1Seven posted on the previous page, the manual section gives the distances from the truck that the lines need to be calibrated to. This will also affect the pedestrian detection. (here...
  8. Heritage Grill Camera Swap - Observations

AWESOME! Thanks for confirming. This is a big advancement for these trucks, allowing us to keep our camera working after any suspension lift or grill swap.
  9. 4th Gen Tacoma 2024+ Suspension & Wheel Torque Specs Guide

Found it! 280Nm each. This truck has some high torque specs!
  10. Could I have got a TRD off road or sport ?

You got the deal you got, at the time you got it. I agree with others - you can't look back. First, because you'll only serve you drive yourself crazy. But second, you'll never know what else could have happened because your situation was unique to all the parameters. Exact time, day...
  11. Heritage Grill Camera Swap - Observations

We also need someone to try long-pressing on their greyed-out button to see if this works for them. Fingers crossed! ?
  12. Heritage Grill Camera Swap - Observations

Oh boy, this is exactly what we needed! Later pages in the section you shared refer to the camera system as the "Circumference Monitoring Camera Control Module", and the whole section days nothing about needing to calibrate any other systems on the truck. I'd wager that it's safe to perform the...
  13. Can I adjust my 360 cameras more than once?

This is totally worth a shot!
  14. Can I adjust my 360 cameras more than once?

That's what we're trying to figure out. Originally, the Circumference Monitoring System was just the Sonar parking sensors. Now it also includes the cameras (for things like Pedestrian detection), which is why the systems are linked.
  15. Can I adjust my 360 cameras more than once?

Negative, that's not a caveat. That's a sign that you can't access the function again. ? (Just giving you some flak) The caveats are that you need to recalibrate the Circumference Monitoring System in order to access the Diagnostic Menu camera adjustment again, or do everything through Global...
  16. Can I adjust my 360 cameras more than once?

To answer your question: yes, but there are caveats. If you read through the other thread (that you linked to) there's a discussion going on about it.
  17. AllDogs Lift - Anyone have one?

I've used my old-style basic spring compressors on IFS Toyota suspension, and it's always a little risky. They take quite a bit of force to compress the 600-700 lb/in springs. But it's always worked for me. Another option is a basic hydraulic press. Put the shaft of the shock down through the...
  18. Heritage Grill Camera Swap - Observations

For those who have done the Camera Adjustment in the diagnostic menu, and now have it greyed out... Can you check what shows under the "Camera Detection Setting" on that same menu? I believe that the "Circumference Monitoring System" is camera-based, and *maybe* there's something in there for...
