  2. Introducing the 2024+ Tacoma ECU/TCU Tuning Solutions from Overland Tailor Tuning (OTT)

Noted! Thanks :) If you have any specific questions regarding this, I'll share what I can!
  3. Introducing the 2024+ Tacoma ECU/TCU Tuning Solutions from Overland Tailor Tuning (OTT)

A truck running OTT Stage 1 should not enter limp mode due to the calibration itself. However, a limp mode condition can still be triggered by underlying mechanical issues such as a component failure, boost leak/vacuum leak, etc.
  4. Introducing the 2024+ Tacoma ECU/TCU Tuning Solutions from Overland Tailor Tuning (OTT)

What is your source for this claim? Or is it purely speculation? I can say with certainty that dealers and technicians do not actively check for tunes during service. We have dealer-level access to Toyota’s systems and databases, as well as a Toyota Master Technician on staff who provides...
  5. Introducing the 2024+ Tacoma ECU/TCU Tuning Solutions from Overland Tailor Tuning (OTT)

In a reply to another poster, I'll touch on the "what dealers can see/what's recorded in a follow-up post after this. However, I will say that what the dealer/corporate can see is quite different from what other manufacturers and ECUs report. Re: your question about boost in the lower gears. We...
  6. Introducing the 2024+ Tacoma ECU/TCU Tuning Solutions from Overland Tailor Tuning (OTT)

If the transmission is shifting harshly/clunky, it's likely a mechanical issue. The tune won't fix mechanical issues, obviously. But we do revise when the shifts occur to some degree, so if it's just a byproduct of a shift occurring at a specific point in which it feels awkward, our calibration...
  7. Introducing the 2024+ Tacoma ECU/TCU Tuning Solutions from Overland Tailor Tuning (OTT)

Stage 1 Enhanced is what most of our clientele is going with, and I think it will be the preferred option for most. Unless you advise our retailer you want something else, Stage 1 Enhanced is likely where they will start you off.
  8. Introducing the 2024+ Tacoma ECU/TCU Tuning Solutions from Overland Tailor Tuning (OTT)

Great question! With the 4G Tacoma, we’ve revised the tuning approach due to the ECU’s completely different control strategy. Unlike the 3G Tacoma, which used direct throttle angle targets, the 4G Tacoma (along with the 6G 4Runner, etc.) employs a torque-request-based throttle control strategy...
  9. PSA: 4G Tacoma TRD Pro / Trail Hunter Airbox Intake System Retrofit is NOT plug-and-play on standard models

We've not tested that intake yet, but from anecdotal report,s it appears ok to use without causing a limp mode/CEL condition.
  10. PSA: 4G Tacoma TRD Pro / Trail Hunter Airbox Intake System Retrofit is NOT plug-and-play on standard models

The Trail Hunter and TRD Pro intakes can be swapped without any custom tuning required (assuming you have a TH/Pro). The intakes are identical in the areas where it would affect the calibration data. The main difference is the logo on the exterior of the box.
  11. TRD Performance Exhaust - PT226-35241-02 worth it? Sound clilps?

This is correct. The Trail Hunter/TRD Pro airbox REQUIRE a custom calibration to properly scale the Mass Airflow Sensor data to the airbox. You will throw a CEL and likely put the truck in limp mode if you do not run a calibration for the TH/Pro Airbox. We have the calibration available for the...
  12. PSA: 4G Tacoma TRD Pro / Trail Hunter Airbox Intake System Retrofit is NOT plug-and-play on standard models

We've specifically tested the Sxth Element intake and the unit we evaluated did not indicate it would require custom MAF calibration. There was an increase in the dispersion and overall mean error, but it fell within acceptable range of tolerance (that we're comfortable with). We've purchased...
  13. What cold air intake CAI brand are you running in your 2.4 gas engine?

Colton, This is correct, with regards to the TRD Pro/Trail Hunter intakes require tuning to work with standard gas models. We have the proper MAF calibration to allow conversion to this improved airbox. It allows for a higher airflow ceiling which will allow the MAF to meter a higher airmass...

Here are the factory Alignment documents from Toyota. Thanks for sharing the info on these springs!
  15. DIY Tuning Costs for the 2024+ Toyota Tacoma – Full Breakdown

We've seen much higher-than-expected interest in DIY tuning options, so we want to keep the community informed on what’s required to tune the new 4th Gen Tacoma with our calibration files. Here’s what you need to know. Required Hardware & Costs To flash the new ECU in the 2024+ Tacoma, you...
  16. Introducing the 2024+ Tacoma ECU/TCU Tuning Solutions from Overland Tailor Tuning (OTT)

Ryan, They all have access to the calibrations. However, I can't speak to their individual schedules/calendars. I've sent a message to him letting him know you were attempting to get ahold of him. I can say he's had to step away for a bit the last few weeks due to a family emergency. He's...
  17. Introducing the 2024+ Tacoma ECU/TCU Tuning Solutions from Overland Tailor Tuning (OTT)

Hi Brian, Thank you so much for the kind words! I appreciate your feedback. As for your question about factory updates, If Toyota releases a factory calibration update, the dealer can service the vehicle and apply the update, as we don’t lock down the factory diagnostic functions. Regarding...
  18. Introducing the 2024+ Tacoma ECU/TCU Tuning Solutions from Overland Tailor Tuning (OTT)

None at all. @HardCorTaco was one of our early testers who fitted their intake. We collected data, and its MAF housing/design is within an acceptable range for use with our tune. The only one we know to be a problem at the moment is the TRD Pro/Trail Hunter airbox which needs a special...
