Greetings all,
My wife and I decided to cancel our allocation request / deposit on a Trailhunter in favor of the Overtrail+. There were several reasons.
1) My wife has become really fond of the styling of the new GX 550, particularly the Overtrail model.
2) The number of folks posting (mostly...
PNWblue, I totally understand your point of view. Frankly the interior comfort will decide whether we buy a Trailhunter. We received a text from our dealer yesterday indicating those trucks will be arriving in the next few months, perhaps sooner. We are first on the list for a TH, with our only...
That is one sharp-looking Tacoma. The wheel offset is conservative, which I like. Amazing how new wheels and larger tires can transform a pretty pedestrian factory OR setup into something that looks (and presumably is) so much more capable. And aggressive. And expensive.
2ndGen2TrlHntr, thanks for this. Very helpful. I personally have enjoyed watching their Trailhunter series with the understanding that (obviously) Toyota provided a pre-production truck to engage their platform.
I too think it was smart. The videos are well produced and generally entertaining...
I have to say, that’s some shitty paintwork. It’d be unacceptable on a $20K Kia, never mind a $50K Toyota.
If and when we ever see our promised Trailhunter, if I see an inch of exposed primer, we walk.
Thanks for the info. What a strange engineering decision that I would never have considered buying: Four-piston front calipers coupled with rear drum brakes.
Awesome. Still love the color you chose. It’s brilliant on the Tacoma.
Considering all the negative bias Internet forums present, i.e. the number of folks who post the most is often directly proportional to how dissatisfied they are with a given product or situation, I always enjoy reading...
You make a valid point. For us to buy either the TH or Pro, two things would have to happen: One, we’d have to fall in love with it hard. And two, the pricing relative to market has to be right.
I have no idea what the car dealership business will look like in several months when / if South...
Thanks for this. Very helpful. We visited the Toyota dealer at the corner of 635 and 35 in Dallas first, and left immediately with very bad vibes (the name escapes me; the shop left our minds the second we drove away). But South Toyota left a favorable impression both times we’ve visited.
I haven’t used fd-warranty.com. But I’ve purchased several Fidelity Platinum warranties from third-party resellers over the years with great success, and significant discount. They were for Porsches and an Acura; all have been honored without question at various dealers.
My only recommendation...
We have an agreement and deposit at Toyota of Dallas for a Trailhunter or TRD Pro. The deposit was $1,000 last November; the verbal agreement was for MSRP, with ToD reserving the right for a market adjustment.
My wife and I told the sales manager that we have not, nor will we ever, pay above...
I can comment here with some experience, although not with a Toyota.
My wife and I have purchased three premium German cars over the last five years, all Porsches, all with newly redesigned central electronic controller systems known as PCM (Porsche Communication Management).
Like Toyota’s new...
Planoman’s post above is excellent advice. In business, few things trump a personal relationship.
I have done a poor job of fostering one with our preferred Toyota dealer. I just haven’t put the effort in. I’ve done more work with two local Lexus dealers on securing a GX 550 Overtrail+ that was...
I dunno. My wife are I have purchased a number of first-year redesigns and have not experienced a letdown. But we are enthusiasts on the far end of the spectrum. A car is not just a transportation appliance to us; a truck is not just a thing to haul stuff. Nonetheless, I can completely...
Dude. Aren’t you the same fellow who posted the Fed was cutting interest rates six times this year? Please. Nice guy, but you’re sort of full of [stuff] now and again.
See below regarding “Marty McFly,” which was cute the first 37 times, but is now getting a little stale. Let’s not mislead...
Those are impressive numbers. Figure in the standard 15 percent driveline loss from crankshaft to wheels, and the 2024 puts out 310 to 315 horsepower at the crank.
Altitude isn’t much of a factor with turbocharged engines. By their very nature they correct for atmospheric density variances...
