  2. Why can I drive without a key in my Taco

45-90 seconds is all you need to pull a left headlight, plug in a canbus attack module and steal a lot of late models.
  3. Payload / GVWR oddities

Have a TRD OR. The door sticker shows 1200lbs payload. Seems unusually low. All the website docs have it substantially higher.

  7. How's your 2024 Tacoma been running so far?

A weird body squeak that I can't find or troubleshoot started about 4000 miles. Hard shifting in and out of 3rd gear. All other gears are just fine. Bed rails plastic cover peeling up. "Other than that, still love the truck" to borrow some copium from Cybertruck forums.
  8. 2024 Tacoma Block Heater Part # and factory installation guide [PDF] - how-to DIY

You ever look into the super low pour point oils for the extreme cold, or does the block heater and oil pan heater make this unnecessary? The oil these guys sell has a pour point down to -72F: Premium Plus Passenger Car Engine Oil – Advanced Lubrication, Inc. You'd want to run it to at least...
  9. First oil change at 840 miles with filter cut open (LOTS of debris!)

Sealed just means no dipstick. They are far from maintenance free. The only complication, which requires zero tools and can be done DIY, is to put the truck into transmission temp check mode with the shifter to bring the temp up and let excess oil drain out. Lock thermostat in place with a pin...
  10. First oil change at 840 miles with filter cut open (LOTS of debris!)

That may have changed within the last year. The moly in some recent samples of TGMO is showing around 80-100 ppm if memory serves. The type of moly used is more important than the quantity, as some types of moly are more effective than others. There's also a whole bunch of anti wear things added...

I think it's a pointless risk to NOT use API SN+/ SP, but exact T24A-FTS engine from basically every other country's Toyotas approves as low as API SM. This is in 2023+ MY vehicles. I pulled the official owners manuals to look at oil grade recommendations and specs. This is in countries where...

  16. Morse code sounding beeping after start when below freezing

It sounds like a touch tone phone. What happens if you turn off the carplay or android auto?
  17. Oil change interval for 2024 Tacoma 4th gen hybrid and gas engines? Synthetic or conventional engine oil?

That is exactly it. When Toyota certify these vehicles for fuel economy, and they get the fuel economy ratings verified by the EPA using a specific grade of oil, they are required to *only* factory fill that oil and only able to tell customers to use that oil. They cannot recommend another oil...
  18. Oil change interval for 2024 Tacoma 4th gen hybrid and gas engines? Synthetic or conventional engine oil?

Mobile 1 is a great product. I don't think they make anything bad. Some of their stuff is a little better, like the EP, but you could use literally any appropriate oil they sell for an eternity and you will never have a problem with the lubrication system of the engine. Reality is, it ain't...

Toyota calls that emblem, "the sombrero."
