  1. 2024 Tacoma oil filter comparison to 6-cyl Highlander and 8-cyl G4 4Runner

I don't believe the D1/D3 will fit. I had the same thought. I have a stash of D3 for my 3RZ and 2FE. The o-ring and base are larger. It appears it might screw on, but I suspect the base/o-ring is too wide to fit the filter housing on the T24A engine. Here is a pic of a N1 and a D3. Maybe some...
  2. What did you do TO / WITH your 4th gen Tacoma today?! 👨‍🏭 🧰 📸

Installed the DV8 trailing arm skids this morning. The directions say "you may need to lightly tap the skid plate into place with a mallet." I can confirm I wasn't using the mallet "lightly." On one I used the floor jack to press it into place. I was glad to get these installed considering the...
  3. Dirtbox Overland Canopy/Camper + Prinsu Rack

That is a slick trick. I don't have a sunroof, on purpose, so that wouldn't work for me.
  4. Spin on oil funnels info please

I will second this. I used my flex funnel for the first time this morning on my third oil change. It worked as expected. No fuss. No mess. Combine this flex funnel with a Fumoto F103N drain valve and oil changes could not be easier.
  5. Dirtbox Overland Canopy/Camper + Prinsu Rack

Suspension. I started out with a 1/4" spacer in the front (1/2" lift), and Dobinson 819V springs in the rear. While the 819V springs compensated for the weight of the camper and the rear bumper, I didn't get any lift. They were swapped out with 821V springs. I was still not happy, so I installed...
  6. What did you do TO / WITH your 4th gen Tacoma today?! 👨‍🏭 🧰 📸

Got up early to beat the heat. Installed the ICON top plate reinforcement kit on the front struts. Took me 20 minutes and could not have been easier.
  7. Dobinsons Coil Spring Rear Suspension Upgrade (C59-819V) Installed on 2024 TRD Off-Road Longbed

My thoughts. I have a canopy/camper, and a heavy rear bumper with gas/tire swing outs. Dobinsons recommended the 819's. I wanted about 2" lift. I didn't get it. The 819's compensated for the weight, but no lift. I swapped in 821's with a 1/2" spacer. Much better. I think the weight...
  8. Dirtbox Overland Canopy/Camper + Prinsu Rack

Solar and battery. Zamp Solar 190W panel, mounted to crossbars on top of the camper. I have room for one more if I need/want it. Renogy 30A solar controller, with Bluetooth. 100Ah Li battery off Amazon, size group 24. 6-circuit Blue Sea fuse block. Powewerx 2A/4A/8A DC-DC charger. Battery runs...
  9. Dirtbox Overland Canopy/Camper + Prinsu Rack

Negatives. On my second shake down trip to Utah I noticed just about every fastener had come loose. I spent the time to tighten everything up in camp, and I'm hitting the screws with Loctite. The lights automatically dim. As in, turn on the light, it comes on, then dims. You then need to push a...
  10. Dirtbox Overland Canopy/Camper + Prinsu Rack

What I like. Solid build. Aesthetics. I think this is the nicest looking canopy/camper out there. I didn't like the straight sides of everybody else. Built in lighting, plus USB and 12V outlets, top and bottom. Pre-wired for third brake light and running lights. You need to wire them up. I get...
  11. Dirtbox Overland Canopy/Camper + Prinsu Rack

One of the issues I had was wind noise. Mostly in the space at the back window. I looked at several solutions ranging from some sort of a deflector on the camper, to a roof rack. After a bunch of research there only appeared to be two low profile roof rack solutions that might fit between the...
  12. Dirtbox Overland Canopy/Camper + Prinsu Rack

My truck is getting built for a specific purpose. Extended camping/overlanding trips lasting +/- month where I won't be doing anything that requires the capability of my Gen1 4Runner. I still have that for Canyonlands and the like. Yes, the Tacoma will be capable, but not Moab capable. I looked...
  13. Dealership Oil Change (RCI Skids)

My thoughts exactly. My truck came with the TRD skid plate. It's a giant chunk of aluminum. There are no access panels for the oil filter, or the drain plug. It's not too difficult to get off and on for an oil change.
  14. Front bumper recommendation - need help/input

My only comment is before you purchase look at the install instructions. Pay attention to how the bumper attaches and if you think it would survive a winch pull. Some of these bumpers I would not trust to survive a winch extraction. I went with C4.
  15. Rock Sliders, which should I get? Poll included

I went with Victory 4x4 because they don't look like old-school tube sliders. And, they have rock lights front and rear.
  16. 20% off all Toyota OEM parts from online dealers until July 7

I ran it through my local dealer and it came up. Local pickup only, no shipping. Too bad you are not closer. I just pulled off my TRD skid and will be selling it.
  17. 20% off all Toyota OEM parts from online dealers until July 7

First off, you can do better than 20% on a one time sale. My local dealer is 20-30% discount, all the time. There are a few part exceptions, but in general this is the discount my local dealer offers. Plus, sometimes it's cheaper to purchase from Japan, or UAE (you will need to know the part...
  18. What did you do TO / WITH your 4th gen Tacoma today?! 👨‍🏭 🧰 📸

Road trip. Camping on my way up to Overland Expo in Oregon.
  19. Can't find replacement bolts for front recovery hooks

The difference between what you showed (which was the part number I shared) was the bolts I took off my truck were self tapping.
