No bueno. Too many people on here with the same issue for it to be an isolated issue. Hopefully everyone reports it to the dealer rather than just posting about it on here so Toyota is forced to take action.
Mine is smooth with the exception of the first cold shift or two… my BMW with the lauded ZF8 was the same way on a cold start. If your transmission is acting like that consistently then you have a problem.
Hopefully it is something that can be addressed via a software update. Possibly a thermostat that controls the flow of coolant isn’t operating appropriately. Otherwise, it seems the easiest fix would be to upgrade the radiator/integrated transmission cooler. I haven’t had this issue but...
The ECU detects the octane and advances timing accordingly. 87 is the minimum but there is power left on the table if you choose to run it. The OTT guys also confirmed this.
These engines are a bit noisy. They quiet down after a while. I noticed a difference after a few tanks of premium fuel. It’s proven via dyno that the engine is happier on higher octane gas, but 87 is obviously fine. I’ll pay more for a smoother engine and a cheap HP boost
Truck makes more power and the engine sounds smoother on premium. That being said, it’s great to have the option. It’s premium for me but I’m used to putting it in my vehicles anyways.
I wonder if Toyota will address this. I haven’t personally experienced it yet but it seems pretty common from reading this forum lately. You would think these issues would have come up in their R&D..
I believe it’s just the bed liner bending and snapping against the composite bed. I don’t believe it’s truly a spray in liner that permanently bonds with the surface.
Anyone know what the part #s are for the Fox QS3 shocks? I can find prior year TRD Pro shocks but seems the 4G parts are not available to view. I messaged the parts guy at my local dealer and even he wasn’t able to find that info. I’m sure they’re supposed to be VIN restricted but hoping to get...
Per AI so take it for what you will but:
Acceptable transmission temperatures when going up a grade depend on the vehicle, transmission type, and conditions, but here’s a general guideline:
• Normal Range: 175–200°F (80–93°C) is typical for automatic transmissions under moderate load.
• Heavy...
Impressive power numbers across the board from this “4 banger”. A simple tune and you’re making NA V8 outputs. Pretty impressive. Yes, to each their own.
From what I understand Aisin transmissions are typically rock solid (manufacturing mishaps excluded). I’m not worried. Possibly they’ll push a transmission software update in the future to help limit temp increases in these scenarios. Toyota is probably regretting putting a trans temp gauge in...
Nice edit… You want a steel hood? This isn’t 1974. The hood is fine and designed to be lightweight. With regards to Mexico, look up the Toyota Production System. This system is in place in every factory irregardless of where it’s located. I’m wondering why you’re so against Mexico built...
