Our concerns are not a generalized fear around whether this truck is dependable. It’s focused on this TSB. Even if we are prepared to get ourselves back if we get stuck, we may not want the headache of it knowing we’re on this TSB list. I have a family and younger kids. I don’t want to mess...
Does anyone know what this rocker clip is called? What’s the part? Does anyone know its purpose? My PPF guy removed it to lay down some film and it’s now slightly loose. If it’s cheap I may replace it.
Yeah but we now all know. So it makes it harder. And as we notice small symptoms we have to pay attention. I drive far to my rural property. I always tell my kids a ford will get you there but a toyota will get you back when I explain why I don’t have an F150. Not sure that statement...
Just picked up my truck from PPF. Def noticed hard shift from first to second gear a few times. It stopped after I drove it a few miles. Sigh. Wish this wasn’t an issue!
Odds are low you’ll limp along forever. The issue will become clearer as time goes on and there will be a fix. Also toyota kinda has to buy some time - they don’t have tens of thousands of transmissions lying around. So if it’s not broke for now they will not fix it and I can understand why.
Each letter of the VIN means something - I’ll dig up the key from TW. But for the trail hunters we are lumped in with other hybrids so it’s not purely trail hunters.
Worst case scenario is you have a borderline transmission with a small amount of debris. Just enough to make it shift poorly for the life of the vehicle and maybe last half as long, but not enough to throw codes.
What about hybrids? Are you considering a tune for the hybrid and if so would it focus on the gas side of the powertrain?
Also, does this tune just focus on HP and Torque versus throttle response? If I were to do a tune I would not want to change anything about the throttle - it’s perfect how...
That is so cool and makes sense. I’d love to cut one open lol. Only confusing part is - does the exhaust gas that goes over impeller A keep going over impeller B as well or is it taken out of the system before that?
Edit - the scrolls dump into the impellers perpendicularly - so my question...
So I’ve been reading a ton about twin scroll and it’s very fascinating. It seems relatively simple in design as all you’re doing is splitting apart the exhaust channels of the four cylinders to get more even flow and avoid exhaust pulse canceling each other out. What I don’t know is if the...
I agree with all that and I also agree with @TacoFreak — the part of the video I thought people needed to think about is that Toyota does take care of its customers. Not perfectly and not always quickly but they do (look at their recent efforts to fix the white paint issue). Also their quality...
I still believe my truck will last a long time and even if the trans fails, toyota will fix it. Watch this video to listen to car care nut talk about recent quality issues at Toyota:
