Yep, do the math carefully, as for many drivers there is no long-term cost savings going to a hybrid unless one keeps it many years, then you are faced with the expenditure of a battery replacement in the neighborhood of $6K. In fact, you may be helping Toyota more than yourself, i.e. for them...
A pet peeve of mine, Toyota becoming so arrogant that one cannot actually configure and order a vehicle. It is all about streamlining production, and of course above all, profitability.
The problem, it is a "dream sheet". Great for knowing the features available, but unless the Taco is different, one cannot "order" a Toyota vehicle precisely as one wishes. However, in a few months the dealers should have many to choose from.
Thanks! However, compared our winters, that is not any snow to speak of. Here the ice/snow builds up behind the front wheels until there is a large block nearly dragging the ground. Still, I am optimistic.
Thanks! That helps with the decision if they are offered. Come to think of it, the neighbor has them on their vehicle, and I no longer notice them being functional. Not a Toyota, but nevertheless...
Hmmm. We usually get 3-5 feet of snow/year, and it remains all winter. Temperature, well, it also remains below freezing usually all winter, dropping down below zero F many nights. On our present vehicle with fixed running boards plenty of snow/ice accumulates on the underside and I knock as...
A stretch I know, but does anybody have experience with power running boards in severe winter weather? Does road ice/snow accumulating under/on them render them inoperative? I really desire these for the wife, and I think the fixed running boards will be too high from the ground for her, but...
Wow, was not aware of that! Darned if you do the film, darned if you don't. I always have ours factory applied, not aftermarket, and that would certainly be less than 60 days for the paint to cure.
There is a YouTube channel wherein the reviewer evaluates vehicles, and one of his procedures is to measure paint thickness. Toyota is not lacking in this regard. As far as paint becoming chipped, another issue I believe. As of late I have opted for the frontal paint protection films, and they...
All I can say is, WOW! Who would have guessed that ugly air dam would make that much difference. Well, Toyota can boast of the "official" MPG, only to have most owners remove the air dam in the real world.
Shoot yourself in the foot! Does the Jimmy have combo port/direct injection as the Taco does? If not, at about 50K, or sooner, you will be doing the expensive task of cleaning the ports and backs of the intake valves.
MT-Taco, as I understand it, Toyota has the same chief designer for both the Tundra and Tacoma. Let us hope for the best. This is one reason I am considering the new Land Cruiser. However, from the front not very appealing in my opinion.
