Distance to your vehicle can be a factor. On my wifes car that is next to the garage door into the house, if I left thee FOB inside the door on the laundry room sink, the battery would wear out quickly as it can "see the car". Moved it 5 feet away and the batteries have lasted over a year...
It has been a month with a new battery and no issues. So I have concluded it was an intermittant battery failure. One that did not show up during the battery test because it wasnt in a failed condition at the time
Bought these Toyota Front Recovery hooks on Black Friday. Finally installed them today
took 5 minutes
17mm Socket, power driver and torque wrench set to 75 ft-lbs
Alternator voltage was correct. You are correct it a Cell outright failed, it would drop around 2V. That is not what I am theorizing An intermittent failure due to a cracked connection would limit current without a significant voltage drop. I am theorizing that the intermittent issue is temp...
The dealer tested the Battery and said it was good. That has happened before with a bad cell over my years of auto ownership. An intermittant cell issue doesn't always manifest during a test.
I had them replace the battery anyways on my dime. They ended up putting a better True Start...
Thanks for your suggestions. I am an Electronic Engineer and this doesn't seem like a paristic draw issue based on behavior. It is a good thought though
I do have a HAM and GMRS radio installed, but they have been there for over a year with no issues
If it went dead after sitting a few days...
It did it again. The battery was measuring 12.1V
I had to jump it because I was taking my wife to the DR
It started up the next time.
When I got it home, I put it on the charger and it again showed 2 out of 5 bars. I did not run the charge cycle. This is after driving 30 minutes to get home...
Thanks. That voltage was after I charged and reconditioned the battery. I should have measured when I had the issue, but it escaped my mind. I will if ithappens again
I did find the negative battery treminal was loose. Not loose enough that you could pull it off, but enough that it could turn 90 degress with some resistance.
That could have been the problem.
I will tighten it and post up here if it fails again. If you don't see a follow-up post, you can...
I drove 20 minutes to my Father-in Laws house. I was inside 5 minutes came out and the truck would not start. Lights, Dash everything else seemed to work fine. The starter would not engage. I tried my Nocco GB40 and it was clicking with lights flashing. Unfortunately, at the time I did not...
They come off real easy. There is a clip on the inside that slides out and the sensor comes right out. The brfacket theey sit in would need work to get out. However, the one's provided with the bumper are for thee same size sensor so I used new Brackets and old sensors
on the sides you don't get anymore clearance, you are alsso above the frame rails in stock vs with the ARB
In the center you see a sharper angle maybe giving a slight advantage to the ARB
But with the ARB hooks installed at the frame rail and the tow reciever the lowest point, there isnt a...
I have the grill, but not the surronding peices
I swapped for the TRD Pro type. It had maybe 1200 miles
Be a good opportunity to do the same if you think you may eventually swap it.
That isn't my experiance (not engine braking for s&%t), but I ihave a non Hybrid version. I have found the lower gears to be better for engine braking than in my Land Cruiser going downhill offroad. I didn't have any issues going down the mtn passes on I-70 engine braking.
