With front lock on IFS systems one has to be real careful when to lock and unlock due to CV joint/axle failure. Friend has a previous gen (2020??) 4 Runner with factory rear and added front lock and makes a huge difference. Eaton should be ok for front and rear if Toyo are not available...
Go under the seat and find the sensor and depending on the logic you either have to short it across the terminals or leave it open circuited. Try that and just reconnect when you go to sell. Could be needing a resistance though so run an ohmeter across the sensor terminals with someone sitting...
Last time something like this happened to me was a splined shaft on a Jeep. Turned out to be dry and had worn the splines so it vibrated. For some reason manufacturers don't want us peons to grease joints, suspension and driveshafts etc. The fix is probably disassemble, add a grease nipple...
Ditch lights?? You planning on diversions into ditches soon? Sorry night time is for beer drinking, camp fires and music not wheeling. Especially where we go in the Rockies. Too much potential damage at night. Pretty good mod list though
Almost drives one to simply buy a TRD OR to not get all that fancy crap. I actually don't need Adaptive Cruise because I am old fashioned and keep my eyes on the road. Don't need ABS brakes either or lane departure or blind spot monitoring etc. Heard the TH is a bear with all the sensor...
I would do a break in such as no long length same speed cruising. Short power bursts up and down every 5 miles or so, then if you are near hills/mountains do some high boost high EGT break ins. Easier to do with a mnaual though as that ECU will sense high load even in auto manual and kick it...
Towing is not about wieght so much as it is about wind resistance. Example I had way back a new 1998 12valve Cummins manual (should never have sold it) and pulled a 1400lb camper. Mileage went from (imperial) 26mpg @ 65mph to 14mpg and with flat deck trailer and 5000lb load only dropped to 23mpg.
In Canada it is illegal for a tire store to instll spacers. There is a reason for that and that is you cannot check the inside stud torque without taking the wheel off. In your case it appears like it goes on the same original studs so my comment to that is shorter thread grab for retaining the...
There seems to be lots of chatter about power upgrades with related subjects about intercooler changes, exhausts, air filters etc but has anyone thought about how to get more power and cooler air charge by simply installing water injection? Ideal mix is water methanol but water works too. This...
OP- you could try using the block heater with a timer on it to come on about 2 hours before planned starts. Taking a while to warm up is a sign of an efficient cooling system which, IMO, is good.
Most manufacturers can deny warranty on anything from the front of the engine through the driveline to the outer wheel bearings if one has tuned it for more power. And that usually includes ECUs etc on the electrical side. Once the manufacturer sees an unsanctioned download then bye bye warranty...
They do if you are automatic but I believe all vehicles tow ratings are based on basic conditions - level ground, ambient teperature and no head wind. Warranty is good but while they are farting with your vehicle in the shop you cannot use it. The best thing to do is avoid the potential damage...
The Fast Lane truck guys on YT recently did a torture towing test up some long long climb in Colorado using a Premium Hybrid towing 6000lbs bone stock and it was the only truck (yes only) that made it to the top without some sort of system code or ECU slowing things down as compared to all of...
OK thats cool. Make sure you use something like 10ga wire to avoid voltage drop as you don't have many volts to lose from the start - 12. I can advise what my son does with his Jeep. He has a proper solar controller and a portable flexible panel that sits on the ground. He connects the solar...
Are you talking direct to the hybrid battery? That system is greater than 200VDC and goes up to 300VDC. A solar panel would have to be series connected to about 20 panels so would be impractical. Plus you would perhaps compromise the battery and that would be a huge expense. All you need to do...
I guess the first thing that makes a Premium TRD OR lighter is the removal of that god awful front air dam. When I get mine I am hoping it is easy to remove. Lots of airdams out in the local Public Land Use Zone near Calgary.
I have not sprung the trap yet and was going to go for a 2025/6 TRD OR manual but now revised that to currently looking to get the right deal on a TRD OR Premium Hybrid. Will install a cooler on the return line in the radiator cooling circuit. Will use proper flared fittings etc not the stupid...
