Hybrid 2025 Limited Edition Tailgate not closing

Hit the tailgate latch with silicone spray once or twice a year. Had the same issue. It was caused by dust/dirt.

Also, another use for the silcone spray, if you get debris or dirt in your window channels it might prevent the auto up from going all the way. The window will stop midway and lower thinking it detected something blocking it. Spray a little silcone along both channels and it goes back to working smooth as butter.

Mine does this in the rain, its mega annoying, I've done multiple relearns and it still sometimes does it

Hi,
Just came back from Toyota and they can’t find the problem why my tailgate does not want to close. I can open it from the inside and also both buttons outside is working. But when I tried to close it I only get the two beeps.

+1 on this. I had the same problem it was not enabled by default it's in tailgate settings on the dash

Nothing but problems out of those automatic tailgates. Sometimes technology isn't the answer.

I have had automatic tailgates dating back to the 70s............. I automatically place my hand under them and lift and they automatically close. Honestly folks these idiot gimmicks are the reason manufacturers can raise prices. Stop buying them!! And yet our brothers/sisters in the US can get real needed items like SBDisconnect on TRD OR models but we cannot. I would swap the tailgate for the SBD anyday.
