Hi All,

Didn't want to necro an old thread, so starting a new one...I could have sworn I saw someone here that did the same as I'm doing but after a search I couldn't find the thread again.

About 4k miles ago I installed the Dobinsons 822 front and 823v rear. I don't carry too much static load, but I'm still adding to the truck and plan to have an extended tank when its released. Right now my static load is probably somewhere in the range of 400lbs. I ended up with more lift and rake than I expected (even after settling) so I'm planning on getting the wescott designs front preload collar/spacer for the Trailhunter. I currently have 2" of positive rake, so the 1.5" from the wescott kit should get me pretty close to level. I also tow my trailer but its really not very heavy and doesn't cause much if any spring compression with the current static load; I expect this could change as my static load increases.

Has anyone else done something similar, any experience with the wescott preload collars and dobinsons springs?

Additionally, I haven't added extended sway bar links but I think its going to be needed and plan to pick those up soon.

After all of this is done, I plan to install 295/70r18s (34s) on my stock TH wheels.

Hey I'm in the same boat. Dobinson rear springs gave me more lift than claimed even with the correct static load. The front also sagged a bit (<1") with my load, ending up with a 2.5" rake. Did you end up installing the Westcott collar or did you end up with something else?

It is my understanding that the only downside to Westcott preload collars in my case (and yours probably) is reduced down travel and increased up travel, which is probably not a big deal since my frontend is already sitting deeper into its travel compared to stock.

I ended up doing two things that made the difference for me. I had the wescott preload collars installed on the front which honestly made a negligible difference in the front lift with the dobinsons springs IMO. Could have been .5" but no more. If I had it to do again, I probably wouldn't have installed them for $900 all-in at 4wheelparts.

More importantly I added a Rig'd Ultraswing with spare tire which brought the rear down. I think my rear springs had not fully settled until a 5000mi trip in April/May this year. The truck looks really good but the rear springs feel noticeably softer after my trip. I towed a 1300-1400lb trailer on my Ultraswing for the majority of that trip, maybe 3000mi.

I also have more body roll now, but that could be more of a product of additional weight of things I have added to my camper shell storage bins on the sides of the bed.

So the 1.5" preload collar only gave you a 0.5" lift? That's weird.
I thought by changing where the spring is mounted, the lift amount will be precisely 1.5".
