I removed bed caps (easy) , and ran some foam weather sealing tape underneath. Also, it would be very difficult to properly seal up the two front gaps with the butyl tape without removing the bed caps. Remove caps-butyl tape the gaps-install caps-continue to butyl tape the new gaps left by the caps.
How thick was the two sided foam tape you used? Cap seems quite thick with lots of ridges. Cap underside near cab.

What type of foam weather tape did you use under the rail caps?

Alu-Cab and the Alu-Cab experts at OK4WD recommend SikaFlex to seal those up underneath. I received a tube with mine but decided against it. If I was running a camper I'd have done it but for the canopy I wasn't too concerned and still no leaks or dust issues.

Yeah, I’m just running the canopy. I don’t want to lift the rails off if I don’t have to.

I guess that's up to you on how in depth of an install you want to get into. Some people are removing their caps to better adhere them too since they can come loose but with the canopy on that's not an issue. Like I mentioned I didn't do that on mine and haven't had any issues yet. If I do have issues later I'll consider it but only being a canopy and not a camper setup I'm not too worried if I get a few drips coming in.
