Anyone driven Tacoma & 4Runner TRD PRO back to back?

Hello guys,

Current 2025 Tacoma TRD Pro owner here, my gripes with the Tacoma are:

- Too stiff supension and it pogoos on some concrete
- No rear seat space
- Darty, it does not feel very planted, not sure if it is the very tall ride height

Basically want to know if they drive very diffferent one over the other and maybe if the 4Runner is a bit more upscale?

Yeah, Tacoma’s in general all do not have rear seat legroom. I did look at a 4Runner when I bought my taxi but I didn’t test drive one. I noticed the rear seats in them had plenty of room but since it’s just me and the wifey and we didn’t need the rear legroom…we needed to haul things. Yeah, the 4Runner can haul too but not bigger things. I really like them but we already have an SUV. I wished I would have drove one just to say I did.

What color are you looking for? For the kind of money you spend for the Pro, you ought to also shop the GX 550.

The reviewer also mentioned the Tacoma Pro with it's isodynamic seats will make the ride a little bit more comfortable and provide more enjoyment for the driver & passenger. Whereas the 4Runner Pro is made for the entire family's enjoyment w/ more legroom in back.

I don't think the 4Runner Pro is any more "upscale" than its sibling the Tacoma Pro.
You said your ride is a little stiff, have you crawled underneath the truck and adjust the shock absorbers? Zone 1 being the stiffest (factory setting/ optimal on-road performance), Zone 3 being the softest (suitable for more challenging off-road conditions) and Zone 2 is the median of the two (slightly softer ride); mine is set at Zone 2.

In the end, it all comes down to personal preference.
