Black overlay removal

Morning,
Frustrated. Tried to remove the black badge overlays from the chrome emblems last night with hair dryer...= impossible! The whole emblems will come off but not the overlay. So, tonight Ill carefully take the whole emblems off and soak in hot water to see if I can separate and then put back on truck with emblem tape I have. If no go, then order new chrome ones.

Has anyone done this successfully? Thanks

If anything, most people will do the opposite and paint, plastdip, or order black emblems. I bet someone would have traded with you rather than trying to strip off paint. If you're talking the front Toyota emblem that is.

I want the tailgate 4x4 emblem, the two SR5 emblems and the two Tacoma door emblems chrome.

Oh yeah that's the first I've heard of anyone wanting those chrome tbh. I love the blacked out look personally. I could be wrong but there's a good chance it is not chrome under there since paint doesn't stick to chrome so if you strip the black off, it might just be grey. I highly doubt they will even be shiny at all. If you use paint stripper you'd end up stripping anything that would be chrome most likely.

Its chrome. Toyota only makes chrome ones, then depending on the order from the dealership they stick on the black-out overlays. I'm old school, chrome is good.
