I have been following all the different brake controller threads. I have seen where one person said that his Toyota dealer got the parts and was going to install them. I never saw a result of this install. My dealer got some parts but they than spent a day trying to do and install and gave up telling me to try the Curt dangle. i tried it but returned it. I did not like turning on Location Services for their app and did not like worrying after every bump that it was still connected. I down loaded all the instructions to install the REDARC Two Pro Elite but I have an Extended Cab(2 door) and instructions are for a 4 door. I think if my wires are in the same place I would need to remove my front seat to get to the wiring. Also one post thought installing something other than the Toyota solution would void the warrantee. Not sure if there is any truth to that. I am also looking at the Tekonsha Prodigy Controller, It’s more expensive than the others but the installation is relatively easy; no ripping the truck apart. Even with that the microphone like control that plugs into the lighter plug is a bit kludge in my view.
I would like to hear from anyone who has tried any of these options or successfully had Toyota update your truck to the actual Toyota controller. What was your result? Recommendations? Thanks
