Guessing you're a technician? It would be easy in your position to always assume the sky is falling, because you mostly only see problems. It's a lot like going to the doctor and realizing everyone in the waiting room is sick. Well yeah, that's where sick people go. It doesn't necessarily mean "something is going around". But in the case of the Tundra, I would say you see a disproportionate number of them in for various reasons, not just the engines vs other models.

I'm glad to see Toyota allowing you guys to throw in turn-key engines instead of short blocks. What a nightmare that was for you folks. It's bad enough that you have to literally remove the entire cab to replace the engine, but then be tasked with R&R of the old components into to the new SB on top of that? Crazy. And I shudder to think what the flat rate was. Bet you have a few work shirts with FIPG permanently on them too. 😅

The environment for folks turning wrenches at dealerships isn't always a kind one. It's ashame it's that way.
Yea I have worked as a tech at a few different locations. Currently work in parts as my back and knees dont work so well anymore. Working in parts, we have meetings the parts and service managers go to with a bunch of other dealers in our zone, and they all discuss the problems we are seeing and its a common thing at every location. While the 2022-2024 had a few small issues besides the engine, 2025 and 2026 models seem to be having A LOT more problems. You can definitely tell there was a massive shift in part quality. And it seems to be mostly higher trims that have the fancy electronics that seem to suffer the most(Limited, Platinum, Pros, Capstones).
