Does anyone need a tailgate assist?

It’s pretty obvious that there is a need for power tailgate or assist otherwise Toyota and other manufacturers have not developed them.

i have a power tailgate, and im torn.
you can turn it off so its manual, but because its a pwoer tailgate, the effort to manually close it is more than a regular tailgate. it has a soft open. there is definitely convenience with the power tailgate. i can open/close it with my elbow if my hands are full.

what im actually torn about is the cost or repair. my rav4 had power liftgate, powered by 2 struts.....well,....the strts last 4-5 years and they are 1200CAD each. nearly 2500 for a pair every 5 years is highway robbery....sure hope the taco mechanism is better than this.

I’ve never had any issues with the power hatch in all of my cars… I expect the same with the tailgate

It was PITA to remove M8 flat head torx screw from the gate, but it works now and I'm 90% happy. I only installed one side and I will keep the other shock if I need to replace it later. Just keep in mind that this kit will only slow the gate going down. I'm OK with that because the gate is not heavy.

Proctologists use Vaseline. Just don't stand right behind. Donkeys can be unpredictable. I hope that helps.
