Droning / Humming noise when accelerating

Has anyone encountered a loud droning / vibrating noise when accelerating between 40 - 60 mph?

See if you can get the noise on video and post it. Could be the rear diff making the noise. It's been a problem since the 2nd gen Toyota only has had 20 years to fix it. Could be something else though, hard to tell without hearing it.

Yes. I’ve noticed it lately but mine always occurs right in the range of 2300-2500 rpm. Of note I was going down the highway this morning at 65 and noticed it constantly but at that speed my rpm was also between 2300-2500. I do have a trailhunter and was thinking I was just hearing a specific harmonic through the snorkel at that rpm, but idk if that’s normal. It’s not super loud but is noticeable.

I have a Trailhunter and understood from the tuner as we test drove that this is normal turbo whine that we can hear coming up via the raised air intake a.k.a. snorkel.

Hello. I’ve had my 25 SR5 for about 2 months now and have a vibrating humming noise driving me insane anytime I’m at a steady 2200-ish RPM. Dropped it back at dealer day after I bought it. They said nothings wrong. It’s definitely not nothing.

Sounds like you have a non-turbo so definitely not turbo whine.

I hear the same thing but it is extremely faint and I'm not concerned about it as Tacoma's historically make all kinds of noises, etc.

Ha! Agree 100%! The truck noise is still making me smile but I’ve only had it for two months.

Okay - I noticed it’s always around 2000 RPMs. I was on a recently repaved freeway so I know it’s not the road. You can hear it briefly. Use headphones.

That’s not my noise either hah. Mine is definitely not turbo whine as that’s obvious from the snorkel. I’ll see if I can get it on video at some point.
