Took Silverado road to the Maple Spring Truck Trail then went up Main Divide to Santiago lookout.
Very cool ride, took about an hour and a half from the Trailhead to the summit. Lots of other people on the trail, bicyclists, 4x4, hikers, everyone was super nice and courteous though.
Snapshot of what the bottom half of the trail looks like:
Occasionally more rutted but usually less, easy to do 10mph on this section.
Came across some friendly Toyota people at the junction with North Main Divide
View of the peak with some burnt up trees in the foreground
The final stretch to the summit was pretty narrow, 1 Tacoma wide at times with a sheer cliff
At the summit there were cool views all around
Facing South to Temecula
Facing North West ish to Laguna Beach
Facing North to LA, couldn't really see anything cause of the haze
I drove down this, and then I was immediately told there was a easier way to get to the lookout at the summit
The SR did fine going back up the flexy section. A guy with a TRD Sport was there who was bummed about bending his predator steps up on these bumps
Yotas at the peak and the poor guy with the Sport and slightly bent steps
My track on OnX got messed up but here's what it captured:
I used 4Hi for a bit maybe 2 miles in then switched to 4Lo and let it shift. No issues with trans temp, Scangauge maxed out trans fluid temp at 242 and then went down with 4Lo usage. Engine oil temp peaked at 235.
Never hit the skidplate on anything also didn't air down, but I think the OnX rating of 3 should be closer to a 4 or 5/10. There's a few cliff sections where if there is oncoming traffic a nervous offroad driver would freak out for sure. There are also a few more technical spots where you wouldn't want to take the wrong line.
Anyways thanks for reading!
What everyone came to see:
Some of this won't buff out but I don't care
