I called Revolution this afternoon and they are in testing of 5.29s currently. They confirmed the 4.56/4.88 options for the 4R and FJ 8.2” that already exist are the same gear fitment for the Tacoma 8.2”. Bearings and such are a bit different and not quite figured out yet.
I’m almost guaranteed doing 5.29s as soon as they are available. I want to see how the turbo drives the MT with them.
One thing I’m curious about is the carrier break on the 8.2” diff. With autos having 3.583 and manuals having 4.30, and the old FJs and 4Rs having 3.91 and 3.73, I’m curious if they are making thick gears or what. I bet I’ll end up needing a locker or a 3.58 carrier to run whatever gears they come up with. Not very many 4.30 8.2’s out there since only the SR MT would have that setup.
