Hey guys! I got a 24 Limited and currently is 29K miles, as of right now my front break pads is still have around 70% but my read pads all gone, see attached for rear pads. This makes me and my technician confused. It should be front replace before rear one, mechanic guys said he never see this before, generally front will be replace before rear one. I didn't tow and load heavy stuff every day, just a daily commute drive. Is this normal or someone have same issues? Thanks!

I only use this less than 10% time and I turned off the function to automatically break by itself. that's weird, generally front will last shorter than rear one.

Do you drive a lot on unpaved roads or other low traction situations?

No, 99% on paved rode.
Hmm. I’d be wanting to take that into the shop then. Rear brakes are less stressed under normal conditions than the fronts. The wear shouldn’t be that much different in that way.
The only thing I can’t account for is if the pad material is different, but why would it be?

All from original equipment and I didn't do any changes. it shouldn't be some different. Yeah the difference are big, front still like new.

Are the rotors on the rear made out of sandpaper?

Is your gas mileage poor? The only way I can think of that would happen is if the rear brake is compressing all the time. Maybe after you drive, get a temp off the rear rotor and compare it with the front?

or take it to the dealer and ask if that’s weird.

I'll try to take a look on temp, but I think I didn't do anything on break systems from original factory. My MPG is around 20/21, looks like not bad.

Huh. I get 20.5 average with my or. So it’s in the ballpark.

I’m not saying you did anything wrong. My brain is saying “something doesn’t add up here, this shouldn’t happen.”

I'm not sure if the front system does not working when the pedal pressed, but this is difficult for me to check by myself.

Put it on Jack stands, put a heavy rock or wedge something against brake pedal, see if you can rotate wheel when it’s in neutral. Make sure you’ve chocked the rear tires really well.

Thanks! I'll try on it.

Just replaced my rear pads at 31,000 miles. Down to 15%. Fronts look almost new.

My guess would be the proactive drive assist function uses rear brakes instead of front so you don’t feel nose dive when it activates to slow the vehicle.

Yes I got almost same situation, but I only use less than 10% of driving assist. Just curious and makes me confused cause most vehicles are front last shorter than rear.
