I’m coming from an F150.

Whatever you had on when you turned the truck off, that’s what came on when you started it next time.

I have a ‘26 SR5 with the upgrade and cold weather package.

It has the auto climate control.

When I turn on the defrost and A/C the buttons light up.

The next time I start my truck neither button is lit up.

I’m I doing something wrong or do I have to push both buttons every time I start the truck?

I’m not using the Auto climate control where you just set the temperature. I don’t know how that works either. For example if I set it to 80° how to make sure it will defrost my windshield when I remote start?

Any help or link would be appreciated.

One quirk that Toyota has always done, and Ford hasn't: when the HVAC is set for front defrost, or defrost/floor combination, the AC is automatically turned on (even if the AC light is off). This is to help dry the air and defrost the windshield faster.

The full on "front windshield only" defrost button is like a turbo mode (for lack of a better term) defrost setting. For some reason, it only lasts until the truck is turned off.

If you leave the HVAC on defrost/floor combination, the truck will resume in that setting and at the same temperature. I think that's your only real option.

Interesting

I guess I’ll check under the hood to see when the AC compressor is operating. I didn’t know it could come on without the light being on. That does make sense though because I’m sure some people would complain about it being on in winter.

Thanks

As far as I know the AC compressor will run when you get in the truck every time until you manually turn the AC off. It is kind of annoying that the "AC ON/OFF" light goes away every time you turn the truck off, even if it remembers the last setting. You just get in and start driving and realize the air doesn't feel right and be like oh yeah I had the AC off last time...
