Limited 2024 Rear shock question

I have a problem with my rear shock. I have LEER camper top and the weight of the camper is making the back of the truck bottom out when i go over speed bumps. I tried to install Timbren camper bump stop which was a fail, the weight of the camper just made the bed drop so low there is no travel. So decided to change the shock to bilstein B8 5100. I noticed that factory shock absorbers have AVS in the front and rear. How would I go about replacing the shock with bilstein 5100. Just unplug the rear, would I get a warning light, would that interfere with the ride quality?. Can someone give me advice on how to go around it. Thanks

I don't have an answer to your question, my apology. I am also curious about the same thing. However, I installed the Firestone ride-rite system a few weeks ago for basically the same reason and love it. I had one on my last Tacoma as well. You might want to look into that instead, It would increase your capability instead of creating a work-around. Just a thought.

You bring up some interesting questions. First, I would try disconnecting the rear shocks to see if you get any warnings. Regardless, if you decide to replace the shocks, you’ll probably need to do all four corners and take AVS out of the equation completely.

You probably need to swap to higher spring rate coil springs, or longer springs with same spring rate in order to compensate with the added shell weight. The shocks are for dampening and cushioning the ride primarily, with some adding some lift options like the 5100's but would give an error I'd imagine. That way you keep the electronically controlled shocks in operation and get back to normal ride height.
