Locking gas cap for 2024 TRD Sport

I’ve done a search on different forums for a locking gas cap for my TRD Sport. There is no definitive consensus that a particular brand/model number is the answer to this issue. In fact, some caps cause a CEL light to come on, sometimes not happening until weeks in. My question………if I try a cap and the CEL comes on, does it clear on its own after putting the OEM cap back on, or is a visit to the dealer required?

Should clear on its own, but as you said it may take weeks for the CEL to come on with a locking gas cap, it also may take weeks for the CEL to go off when putting the OE cap on.

my thoughts, don’t bother with those locking gas caps, they’re usually more aggravation than their worth.

I'm not concerned with theft of gas, just discouraging someone from dumping things other than gas in there.

I got one for my truck about 6 months ago. No CEL ever and it works pretty decent. I’ll take a pic of it tomorrow for you bro. Hope that helps out.

This is the one recommended to me and it works perfectly. Never had an issue. Just periodically check the health of the rubber gasket on the cap and also make sure to leave the key in your center console haha.
