Hi everyone,

I’m relatively new to the truck scene so forgive me if I sound uneducated or whatever. I picked up a 2024 Tacoma TRD Sport in May 2024 and I’m now looking to upgrade my suspension with the Eibach Pro-Truck Stage 2R setup.

I’m particularly looking for people who have a TRD Sport and switched to the Stage 2R setup. How does it feel on road and off road? How harsh is it compared to the stock TRD Sport shocks? Is there anything I need to know about these shocks in particular versus some of its competitors?

I mainly use my truck as a daily driver/work truck that regularly sees paved roads and graded dirt/sandy/pebbly roads that occasionally get muddy. I don’t haul but my bed always has some stuff, totaling roughly 150 lbs. I also have the OEM aluminum running boards and the OEM trifold tonneau cover addi by some weight.

If anyone is wondering I plan on running 35x12.5R17 on some SCS F5 -10 offset once I get everything.

We've helped a lot of members in here with that kit, I'm sure you'll get food feedback. Lot of kits out there but this is a good bang for buck.

I’ve had the eibach stage 2 on my 2025 sport 4x4 short bed for about 4 months (2000 miles). The stage 2 vs 2r is the rear resi shock difference on the 2r. Otherwise I believe they ride very much the same.
I only had around 1200 miles on my sport when I installed these. I also installed JBA uca’s at the same time. I’ve done a bunch of suspension lifts in Tacomas and I highly recommend aftermarket UCA if you’re going to lift the front over 1.5”. These JBA uca’s add caster and Tacomas , to me, ride a lot better on the highway especially with larger wheels/tires aligned with the caster around 4* and camber near zero. There’s a bunch of aftermarket UCAs available for these trucks . You can try with factory UCA’s ……they may get your alignment close enough for your own liking.

As far as ride vs factory sport suspension, the eibach is definitely a bit more forgiving. Rides great on road and truck still has the “sport planted” feel in turns. I’ve been on some bumpy dirt roads and the beach and it seems to ride great . I don’t do any heavy off-roading so can’t comment there. It did take around 500 + miles to break in the eibachs . I only had 1200 miles on the factory sport suspension so not sure if it would have softened up with more miles.

I did install these myself. I’ve installed a bunch of suspension kits on 2nd-3rd gen Tacomas and 5th gen 4 runners. Very similar install on my 2025 sport. The rear coils were not difficult at all and very similar to a 4Runner rear. I had the eibach stage 1 on my 2019 Tacoma off-road and was very pleased with them.

As far as lift, I was hoping to get ~2” front and 1.75” rear so I could retain factory rake . I did not want level. I added a .75” spacer to the rear eibach coils. I did not change the factory collar setting when I installed the front coilovers and ended up over 3” lift in the front which is way too much. So had to crank down the collars quite a bit to get it down to 1 7/8” front lift. It rode way too stiff at 3” and the cv angles were way too much. At 1 7/8” lift it rides great and cv angles are good. The rear ended up at 1 3/4” lift as of now.
I will share that anyone lifting these 4th gen 4x4’s over 1.5” needs to look closely at your inner CV boot’s ribs and check to see if they are rubbing together after installing your lift. My inner cv boots both had one rib slightly rubbing so I pulled off the small side clamp and stretched the boot over a bit until the ribs were apart and installed new clamps (cv boot stretch mod). This may not be 100% necessary but my ocd got the best of me.
