Help me understand this. So a local dealer (name blanked out) has 3 very low mileage high-trim 2024 Tacoma hybrids in their used inventory. This is a small rural dealer, not a high density market...and new Tacoma's are still mostly on an order-only basis availability, at least in my region of Canada. Are these "buyer remorse" trades? Trade in's on a Tundra perhaps? I do see this as concerning. Change my mind!

Yea they trade them in for something bigger vs similar MPGs. Or a higher trim level like a pro or lateral move into the TH now there’s more in the wild. Also maybe color preference; in ‘24 there was a mad rush for some of the halo trims, stuck w/ certain colors. There’s also the back seat under storage, fellas really bent over losing that space vs nearly identical MPG prints

That's how I got my 2025 SR5 DCLB 4X4 according to the sales person. 4,000 miles, 29 days of ownership, previous owner traded for a Tundra. Worked out for me! Got the truck for $37K. Plus they add that CPO 7 year / 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.
Can confirm my coworker did this exact thing too. Bought a Tacoma, said it was too small after a few days, had shiney new tundra a month or two later.

Demo models, short term lease return, early lease return, buyer's loan had issues and failed to close, general buyer's remorse, etc.

Sometimes a dealership will "buy" a new vehicle to get it "off the lot", and then a manager will drive it as a perk for a while. Then the vehicle will get sold soon as a "used" vehicle.

Dealers are required to buy differing quotas of types and models set by corporate and region. That’s why you’ll see certain low interest colors and models on lots as specials. if they can’t sell it they’ll buy it and use as managers specials, loan cars, demo, etc. Lots of games must be played if they want to maintain their ability to get highly desired vehicles.

There could be myriad reasons, such as a divorce or the buyer's inability to handle the payments. Who knows...
