Hey everyone. Just looking for a bit of insight on this. I just picked up my 26 TRDOR (hybrid) with the OEM TRD lift. It's great EXCEPT it has a huge 2 inch rake to it and it looks ridiculous. I don't want to lift the front any more than it is so I was looking at lowering the rear.

According to Toyota, the OEM lift consists of a 3 inch front lift and a 2 inch rear lift. I saw there are some decent aftermarket rear springs in a 0.5 inch lift. If I am not mistaken, by installing these springs, it should drop the rear of the truck an inch and a half. I am assuming that even under full extension of the lift shock, a 1.5 inch shorter spring is not going to move/misalign/fall out? I am also assuming that the shock being 1.5 inches deeper into its stroke shouldn't provide any problems? Do I sound correct in those assumptions?

Me, I like the rake.
Yes it looks very cool and is functional if you ever use the bed. I leveled my truck and am putting spacers in the rear this week to get some rake back.
Your truck looks bad ass.

I'll let someone else chime in about those springs, but your thinking makes sense in my head.

I'd explore larger tires and/or wheels before lowering it

Already on the way. It also looks ridiculous with the lift and the stock wheels. Something about the silver band really makes the wheels appear even smaller than they are...

33s a nice A/T tire will make that factory lift look great.

That’s wild, how does a 3-inch front and 2-inch rear lift result in 2 inches of rake? I put a similar kit on and ended up with a .5 inch squat that I now have to fix (only have oem tonneau cover)…

Be sure to check the spring rate ( for loading ). Also your longer rear shocks are rated for your load capacity, you might run into a dilemma with them holding up the rear.

Personally I like a level truck, and now since I added the Backwoods high clearance front bumper, and 12k winch I am having to respring the front Kings I've Installed to hopefully get it closer to level. The original spring rate is 500lbs ok my King's. I am swapping them out for a 650lbs spring to gain back my performance.

Have you looked into what you're rear springs are rated for?, you might get lucky, they could be rated for a larger load capacity that a lower trim model and swap for a stock option.

Lastly you might run into a situation with the multi-link rear suspension with coil springs (specifically a 4-link system).
You may need to buy adjustable ones too make it functional.

I have a complete suspension with 1000 miles on it for sale in Washington State. Not sure where you are located?
My 24 TRD OR capacity rating
143/257 lbf/in range.

Yah, I have been trying to wrap my head around that as well. I am going by the very limited specs available on Toyota's website for the lift numbers. But if that is correct, that suggests that the truck originally had 3 inches of rake in the back which seems weird...

Interesting that with a similar kit, you have a very different stance. Do you happen to have your original measurements of top of the tire to bottom of the black fender?

That's a lot of great research information for me to look into, thank you. Honestly I have no idea the spring rates. I have hit dead end after dead end trying to find specifics for the OEM lift. Even just getting the lift numbers in inches felt like a closely guarded secret...

Sadly I don't have the original measurements and even if I did, I found them too be inaccurate from truck to trunk, due to fuel level, parked on a level surface or not and so on.

Toyota had to put 2in of preload on my Kings too bring it up to the level It is at now, with 500lbs coils. The Dobson 821 I installed because of the weight I had at that time.
Now with the new front bumper and 12000 pound winch, along with all the armor underneath. I'm going to install 600lbs coils on the front king's and bump up the Dobson 823 in the rear ,along with Kings adjustable rear links.
I pray this will bring the front up level with the rear.
To avoid any vibration due to lifting the front 3 1/2" I'm going to install a ECGS
Bushing replacement on the driver's side.
Good luck with your tinkering

With all the added weight to your truck and the consequently higher spring rates, do you find the ride quite a bit rougher or do they balance each other out fairly well?
