Hey folks. I’ve been trying to source a metallic grinding sound coming from my engine bay and I’ve had no luck. Hoping to be able to call in the troops to help me out. Here is what I know so far:
1. It usually happens while accelerating from a stop or while at low speeds. (1-2k RPM)
2. Only happens when the engine is hot; usually after a long drive.
3. can be recreated while revving in park (see video); when this happens it can most clearly be heard from the underside of the car and not as clearly from the hood.
So far I have been able to rule out any heat shields outside of the Catalytic converter. The transmission shouldn’t be the issue since it can be recreated in park and the driveline from there and further back would be stationary (not 100%on this but it makes sense).
I’m really at a loss at this point, I’m bringing it to the dealership since it’s luckily still under warranty, but it would be really helpful to go in with some useful information to give them.
