Need help wiring rough country rocker switch to Tacoma square light switch . Dual action light bar

Hey Tacoma,

I ran into an issue while trying to hook up my light bar. I bought a Rough Country 20-inch light bar for my heritage grille, but the switch that came with it is a dual-action rocker switch. The wiring is different from my OEM-style Tacoma square switch.

The weird thing is that the two black wires tied to one another on the rocker switch that is what is confusing me.

I’m trying to figure out how to wire everything so I can still use the dual-function feature (daytime running/backlight and main light) with the square switch. I’d also like the light bar to turn off when the truck is off.

Your best course of action would probably be to t-tap the DRL wires and hook the other two wires (for “full power”) up to a single square switch. You could do a dual switch but you’d have to turn on/off the low power mode manually. I think

One way to accomplish a dual action switch is to wire 2 switches, one for DRL, and one for the running lights. I ordered factory style switches from Running for Tacos.
I tapped into my DRL, and turn signals to use all the functions of my lights. Then I found a fuse that is hot when the truck is running too use a fuse tap for power.
