Checking in new member from ct just got a 25 TRD OR 6 MT in celestial silver. Was a nightmare to find a stick silver OR with little to no options but scored one that just showed up local for $2800 off msrp. Have owned every taco gen and this one BY FAR is the best yet. Engine is great and the stick is a joy to use.

Wondering if it’s a must to get the TRD skid plate ? Any other great OEM accessories.
Whats the general thought on intakes? Is TRD releasing one soon? Thanks

Welcome, to the world of mods, and of course, it's always a good idea to replace the fiber skid plates with something more substantial. As far as the intake goes, the only OEM option would be the airbox out of the pro model.
I personally would recommend getting an OTT tune Before you do anything, you'll be happy that you did.
I went with the sixth element cold intake and can say I noticed a difference.
In performance.

Beautiful Truck I love the wheels. I actually wanted a bronze oxide or silver, and it was damn near IMPOSSIBLE to find a 6MT in my area. One Dealer did searches for me every 3 weeks and one never showed up within 1200 miles.

I was considering the Sixth Intake but worried about potential warranty loss because of it. Same thing with the tune.

One thing I noticed is I don't really have any lag hang. This truck was according to the dealer one of the last 2025 6MT built and I'm wondering if the lag hang is over exaggerated or maybe they fixed it for late 25's to 26 models.

Also a little bit about myself. I have owned and own multiple Japanese Classic to Modern Classic Performance cars. My fleet at the moment includes a 2003 Evo, 2007 STi, 1995 FD RX7 - I am super picky with cars and dislike most modern ones. I had a GR Corolla that i did not like at all - I find the TRD Off road with the manual trans to be the best truck I've ever driven and its honestly so far a joy to use. The older tacos don't hold a candle to these trucks stock for stock in my opinion

Welcome to the forum! I got a 25 TRD Sport in Celestial Silver and I asked them to find a manual transmission and there was only one to be found, in red, over 400 miles away and none of the features that I wanted. I stuck with the automatic transmission and am completely happy with it. Post some pics of your new ride so we can all see it!

Edit - fixed one line for you- My fleet at the moment includes a 2003 Evo, 2007 STi, and a 1995 FD RX7, which I will never under any circumstance sell, so help me god.

I actually have a TRD intake, and it's incompatible with the MAF parameters of the truck without a tune. I'm not committed to a tune, so I'm on the factory intake. If you're interested in it, let me know.
I have a spare filter and pre-filters to go with it.

get the tune. best money spent.

https://www.tacoma4g.com/forum/thre...id-ott-tuned-holy-smokes-night-and-day.15638/

in fact, DON'T get it, and just drive your truck for a few weeks... THEN get it, so you can actually tell the difference.
I did some research and saw that, my question is will this void the warranty. I plan on keeping this truck for 10+ years - Unless Toyota cancels the stick and then I will try to get the TRD OR version of whatever the last year of that will be

I am not sure if I want to tune it or not yet. Trying to make this truck last as long as possible and don't want the warranty voided. The dealer I got it from gives a free 100k mile warranty on all Tacomas and Tundras they sell.

I thought TRD was going to make a full intake for these trucks, any word on that?

I laughed at your edit. The rally twins are just great cars and I would rather own those two than a new corvette or shelby. The FD I still haven't found any sports car that drives like it so she stays lol

Yeah it was near impossible. I wanted Bronze initially and waited three months, nobody could find one with a stick and the smaller screen. One showed up and the dealer wouldn't swap or discount. I aways thought silver was a classic Taco color so that was my second choice. Just out of dumb luck one with zero options besides heated seats shows up. The dealer was fair as possible with discounting and didn't try and pad the price or anything. I really am surprised by the build quality. It is very reminiscent of a 100 series

So much better than the 16 taco our family had it is night and day. I am someone who prefers the older stuff by a country mile so needless to say I was shocked driving and inspecting it.

Also - No rev hang that i notice at all. Zero

Same boat as you with longevity, and why I didn't go with the tune.

TRD Does have an intake, but the ID of the pipe is larger and it's outside the calibration window for trims that are not TH and PRO models.

Had a friend with an FD, and those are something special, never give that up. Subi goes first, no question about that.

Stick with no options, my favorite spec!

Also you have great taste in cars. I also have an Evo (Evo 6 Tommi Makinen), and I used to have an FD and a Hawkeye STi. Right now I'm on a bit of a Nissan kick (R33 > R34 > S15) but I need to trim the herd.

Thanks you too! How do you like S15 compared to the 33/34?

Autonation is a big dealer group! Are you part owner or principal of the parts end of it?

Trying to find a 05-07 STI with close to "new"/Delivery miles if you know of one I'll happily pay a 2k finder fee to you
