2024 Tacoma Nomad Website Backspace Numbers on the 504 Field 1760661257630-bo

Hello Everyone -

The +35 17x8.5 I highlighted lists the back space as 6.13", which doesn't seem right to me. Doing the math, I found online, you take the width/2 + positive offset in inches (1.37"), which equals 5.6", not 6.13". That's a .5" difference.

I am strongly considering these wheels, but if their backspace number is correct, it might rub on my aftermarket high caster UCA, which says 5.75-6"

Does anyone know if the generally accepted backspace calc I listed above can be off by .5 inches from what they list on their site, or is their site wrong? I called Nomad and didn't get a clear answer, other than that it's really about where the mounting face is, not a generic calculation.

Is 0.13" even enough to worry about if I am running my winter tires, which are stock size 265/70R17?

Thanks for any responses in advance!

Good question! OEM is 7.5 wide +55 backspace? My RRW’s are 17x8.5 +25 backspace is 5.73, with tons of room. 6.13 sounds correct for 17x8.5 +35 offset wheel.

FYI 0 is dead center + the center spokes move outwards pushing the wheel in - the center spoke moves inwards pushing the wheel out.

The question is what UCA’s are you running? I’d call them?

I’m pretty sure they will fit fine if OEM fits. The Nomads are 1 inch wider than OEM, 1/2 on each side. 20mm less offset is .79 inches so you should have an additional .30 inches of clearance.

Camburg tubulars.

They specify no more than 6" of backspace on the install sheet. I called them about it to clarify and they didn't want to commit to it being a good fit past 6".

Ended up going with the NYTOP 8.5 +25 to get the ideal 4.73" backspace for the UCAs.

I think the backspace calculation one sees online and I listed should probably add 1" to factor in the lip. Thanks for the explanation on offset too. Perfect way to visualize what is really going on.
