I keep a wide flat artist paint brush for dusting. If it’s dirty with something stuck on, I use light isopropyl with a glass cleaning microcloth of unknown manufacturer. I rather a clean dry finish to some shiny dressing. The instrument zone is easy compared to window cleaning. The plastic finish is easy to scratch. But whatever.
I have a small house paint trim brush about 2" wide in the jockey box for dusting with electrical tape wrapped around the metal part where the soft bristles meet the handle. The CG shine protectant gets gooey around the cold a/c vents in the center of the instrument panel with cold air and condensation there so I just use the Jay Leno for cleaning in that area. I will have one set of MF cloths for the interior and another set for the exterior. I won't use rubbing alcohol on any plastics. Diluted with water, its good for cleaning exterior paint that is about to be touched-up or have sticky emblems or other stick-on body hardware like body side moldings put on.
