We in New Mexico got caught in the storm moving west to east across the country and we got quite a bit of rain first and then and snow (about 3"). Before I get the Nokian Outpost nATs installed, I thought I'd see how the OEM tires did in the rain and snow. I've had a lot of different tires on my 4X4s (Jeeps, Isuzus, Tacomas) since 1968 and I've never experienced as poor a tire as the Wrangler Territories. Slipping and sliding in the rain, and no traction in the relatively dry snow. I'm not taking it out until the roads are clearand hopefully get my new wheels and tires next week!

I know, this isn't new, but I keep wondering why Toyota insists on such garbage tires. I assume they get a deal. Even Jeep does better on the Mojave and Gladiators with Falken Wildpeaks, although very heavy they're good in rain and snow.

End of rant.

I ALMOST bought a set of those take offs for $400 until I learned about OEM tire specs. And I did buy a set of TRD wheels/tires before I learned that as well. Toyota shouldn't be allowed to do that. We got standard Dueller ATs on my wife's wrangler and they were great for 50K. Just replaced them because we wanted bigger tires.
Anyways, stay safe out there ! I went with G3s and they're awesome.

You probably get more snow up there, even though I'm at 5500' in elevation in central New Mexico. It's the ice that'll get you, and "Tyre Reviews" rates the Nokians as the best for that, but nothing beats studded tires.

I hear ya!
Yea we have had some icey winters. There was only one winter where I got tired of digging my truck out of the drifts and just put some spikes on and ran to work instead lol but I'm almost 40 and have never had studded tires. Let us know how the Nokians work out!

OEM spec tires are only made for noise quality and good gas mileage. Good for about two years of city driving.

Yeah, I know that, but I'm always surprised after Jeep did install decent tires. As long as Toyota stays on top, they'll continue to do that. I always factor in new wheels and tires when I purchase a new vehicle.

For the most part , the OEM Tires arent the greatest, my sons TRD Offroad came with BFG,s. He will get new tires in spring i think he is on the low 20,ies for milage….i usually replace OEM,Tires after about 4000 miles
