I finally put the shell together with a buddy. After roughly 30 minutes to unbox everything we elected to assemble the shell on the truck. It worked out easier than my expectations.
We first layed out the shell sides and placed all of the assembly bolts into marked bowls so they were ready to go. The front edge of the truck bed is a bit lower than the bed sides so I elected to place moulding tape across that section before applying the weatherstrip seal.
The OVS website finally updated the wiring instructions for the 3rd brake light. Even though OVS supplied crimp style electrical connectors I elected so solder the wires together and shrink wrap the connections for longevity. The drivers side taillight was a bit of a bugger to remove but it finally popped out.
It took about 2 hours to assemble on the truck not including the 3rd brake light wiring. All in all it’s a great stainless steel shell that I would recommend to Tacoma forum members. It’s a tad heavy at roughly 200 pounds but it’s built to last and my fuel mileage has remained the same.
