Have a 24 TRD Off Road, I’ve recently heard a tapping/rattling sound on acceleration. It does not always occur, but it is frequent. Not a great sound coming from under the hood. Any thoughts?

Don't really hear rattling. Have you changed gas stations? Gas quality, different?

I can hear what you're talking about. This is a different sound than the direct injection. If you are going to try higher octane value just use 93 Top Tier gas such as Exxon, Shell, Chevron for the next few tanks. It may solve this, if indeed a fuel related issue. However, what I heard sounds like a mechanical rattle but not engine related. More like something unsecured in the engine bay vibrating. I'll pay attention to other posts and reply back if I learn something for you. If you find it, let us know.

You're not crazy 😜, I hear the rattle? Too me it sounds like something is loose, like a heat shield, hood, ext. It doesn't sound, IMHO like the drive train.
Here's hoping you find it, and it's some simple.

2nd/3rd what others had said, not normal, but not consistent enough to sound like engine rattle. It's sounds like something not torqued or clipped down all the way or something just slapping around.

check to make sure all the plastic cowling is tight and clipped in around our wiper blade area, and nothing in the engine bay area is sticking out or slapping against the hood.
