Does anyone have pictures of the rearview mirror camera extended to the back of their fiberglass topper?
I have any ARB topper coming in soon to get installed and will be extending the camera using the kit from GGOffroad. I bought a few mounting options they have and I am not sure which way is the best to go.
I wish I could drill a hole from the inside and make the ggoffroad mount look factory.

Be careful with the GG option.. My camera was relocated to back of my AluCab and works great except once the temps get over 80, the camera glitches.. No problem in fall and winter or early Spring.. Not sure if GG upgraded their shielding for thermal problems..

Yeah I couldn’t agree more with Bcphoto3 . Big time glitch with heat. Here in Arizona and it’s only in the 90s now. There aren’t many options if you want to keep your cameras function. Wish there was a better system on the market.

HMM, Ok thanks you guys.. Just curious, why isnt heat an issue where its factory installed? Does the heat buildup in the topper? How could you make a thermal shielding for the cam?
I want to use the camera so Ill give it a try and see what happens. I left the factory installed camera alone and bought a new one. I dont care so much for the bed cam so if its blocked thats ok.

Echoing the temperature problems. But I think it happens even in factory location because the mirror unit itself is scalding to the touch and once I blast the AC it calms down a bit. It might just be exacerbated by the longer cord. I've considered seeing if one could install a tiny computer fan into the mirror unit for some active cooling.

So you think it has to do with the mirror itself and not the location of the camera? I just got the truck about 3 weeks ago and live in Denver and it really has not been hot enough to know one way or another. I have not seen posts regarding heat and mirror/camera issues.
I have ceramic tint on the windshield and windows. If it's a mirror issue hopefully that will help.
If it's a camera issue in the topper then I be sure to leave the back little window open to let the heat out.
I guess time will tell.

So this is happening with your mirror in the OEM position? If so, it would seem a Toyota problem and not a problem with relocation..

I have the GGoffroad relocation kit as well but I did have the overheating of the mirror unit issue before the kit was installed as well. And when you cool down the mirror the issue isnt as bad which is why i believe the problem is in the design of the mirror itself and potentially only exacerbated by the resistance of a longer cord.
Next time yours is acting up try touching the screen you'll see how hot it gets even with sunshades up while parking.
I usually blast the AC from the defrost vents so it travels up the windshield to cool the mirror and once it cools down a bit it usually has less issues.

Is there anyone that parks in a cool spot and doesnt experience the heat issues until after they have been out driving for a bit? My experience is that its always the worst when I first start driving after parking in the sun.
