24 Tacoma Sport has about 18 square inches where water spots have developed in front of the hood scoop. I have tried Chemical Guys and several other products including buffing. It helps for a short while, but they come back. Is there a remedy to remove them?

We have fairly hard water out here in AZ. I have had success with using a clay bar to remove water spots, but if the clear coat has been chemically etched by something, polishing or the more aggressive compounding is the only way I know of to correct it.

I would research professional car detailing products to remove water spots, there are plenty available. If you’re washing your car (or going to a car wash) hard water (minerals/impurities) causes water spots. you can prevent them with using soft water to wash, PPF and/or ceramic coating.

I had the same problem on the hood. I clayed the hood to remove anything that was there including previous waxes. Then applied Griots Garage Best in Show carnauba wax and use their Speed Shine between waxes. Problem solved.

Definitely give the clay bar a shot, I've had decent success with that. I'm in AZ (also mentioned before) and yeah, the water hardness is ridiculous out here.
