Just bought my first Tacoma. . . for my 50th b-day back in March. It's a 2025 TRD Off-Road, 6-Speed manual in Underground (Upgrade Package). Absolutely love the truck, and I've appreciated all the great info this group provides.

I'm considering buying a Swing Case from Real Truck. Looks like a great idea and functional use of space. But I have a few questions for the group before I pull the trigger:

1) Any issues with install (did drilling locations for the mounting bracket cause any problems?)
2) Does the locking and/or swing mechanism hold up?
3) Do you use it a lot? I can't fit many tie-down straps in the little gear cubby on the right bed wall, so the swing case looks like it would be handy. . .
4) Does it conflict with any Tonneau Covers (I have a Rough Country hard tri-fold)
5) Any competitors that have a better product?

Appreciate everyone's time and expertise.

I too considered the Swing Case. But, when I looked at it's measurements compared to what I wanted to keep in it (portable air compressor, recovery kit, folding traction boards, etc.), I realized it wasn't enough cargo space.

Then I considered the Decked drawer system, but realized the drawer itself was too short to accommodate what I wanted to keep in it too.

Luckily, I stumbled upon what I consider to be the perfect option for me while watching a "Tacos of SEMA" video on YouTube; Pelican boxes.

https://www.pelican.com/us/en/produ...EkZzAkdDE3NTA0MzAwMjIkajYwJGwwJGgyNTEwNjAxNjE.

They're certainly pricier than the Swing Case, but the quality is top notch. They make several sizes for truck beds. Most sit in the bed, but they offer one that sits up and runs along the length of the bed for easier access. You can get steel plates that bolt into the bed rails. You can lock the cases to the mounting plates with a padlock or two. You can also lock the cases themselves with additional padlocks.

They can be removed as fast as you can unlock the padlocks and pick them up. Mine have been through a few raging thunderstorms, both sitting in the driveway and while going down the highway, and been pelted by some intense hail. Both remain bone dry throughout.

I usually just keep the 25" on in the bed at all times and add the 41" back for excursions.

Thanks for that info. A great option for sure. Pelican cases are certainly near indestructible. Pricier. . . especially with the additional cost of the mounting bracket. All together you're looking at $500 for the small BX50 case w/bracket. But as they say, you get what you pay for. . . Do you know if that Toyota mount (SIDEMT001B) still works with the 4th Gen Tacoma?

Thanks again. . .

Yep, the SIDEMT001B Side Mount (Toyota Deck Rail) is what I got along with the BX80 case. The BX50 is a small, less expensive option, depending upon how much you plan to store in there. I went with the larger BX80 so I'd need the cross-bed case (BX135) less often.

Pelican has been sold out of the Toyota side mounts for months. I was able to find one on Amazon for the same price. I had to scour the internet for the mounts for the BX135, but lucked across a set on REI's site.

I have a Swing Case in my 2012 Access Cab, gift from my kids. It has plastic hinge mounts, so I never put much heavy in it. Small, doesn't hold much. Also, the gasket failed and it filled with water after a rain storm. I asked they not get me one for the '25 Tacoma.

I was looking into these not long ago. From RealTruck:
Good Afternoon,
I did contact the manufacturer on this for you! They did release the Swing Case tool boxes for the 2024-current Tacomas. This has not been added to the site yet but they are available and I am able to set up an order on these for you if you are interested.
Driver side $281.69
Passenger side $281.69
There are also OEM boxes but they are even more money($425 msrp.)
PT973-35920-RH and PT973-35920-LH.

They're not really OEM, they're Swing Cases with a Toyota sticker on them for double the price. Another thing I found on mine was that the latching mechanism corroded after a few years and had trouble latching.
