Does anyone make a submersible rated snorkel for the fourth gen Tacoma? Something with proper gaskets and seals, as few joints as possible; "IP67" or higher? Most snorkels, including the OEM as far as I'm aware, are sealed with foam tape, and have several joints to reduce manufacturing costs, and thus are really just raised air intakes for dust, while providing modest water intrusion protection. 80% solution that works for most applications because not many intentionally wade deeper than the door seals.

E.g. the K&N snorkel explicitly states this: https://www.knfilters.com/63-8003-elevated-intake-kit-snorkel-toyota-tacoma-l4-2-4-turbo
"By relocating the air inlet to the vehicle’s highest point, K&N snorkels help preserve airflow, enhance induction tone, and reduce the risk of water ingestion* (Not rated for complete water submersion)."

ARB's doesn't state as far as I can tell.

I’m just curious - if you had a true snorkel, how deep could we run these trucks before other issues arose?

Fair question, but a different question. I'd say there are two aspects that I'm personally considering here:

1) Trade study - even if you don't intend to use the feature it's worth understand the trades you are making and the pros and cons. e.g. if you're buying an onboard air compressor, all you need is a single unit, but brushless and twins have some advantages, which might have nothing to do with speed or performance, but rather reliability and redundancy (i.e. a twin might be deigned to run off one side only under certain conditions).

2) Risk reduction and management - even if you don't intend to submerge that deep, mistakes happen and wondering if your about to hydrolock an engine mid-crossing vs the certainty that you won't, might be worth the cost. e.g I rode a 250cc dirt bike on the TAT and out west had no issues, but remarked at the time that I was glad it hadn't rained in a while. Two days behind, it rained heavily, some experienced riders didn't realize they were about to run through a deep culvert that had filled with mud; sunk their bikes up to the handle bars and had to get a tow truck to pull them out. Caution and planning helps you avoid a lot of issues, but it's no guarantee.

Then there are people who really intend to go that extreme...and there's a host of problems to solve if you cross water deep enough to get into the cab.

Not at all questioning your desire for a fully waterproof snorkel - I’m all about isolating risks and thinking about them independently. Was just curious.

No worries. I took it as an honest question; tone being a hard to communicate on the Internet. Was worth explaining why I might want something that likely exceeds what I strictly expect to need.

in my searching, I can only find custom aluminum/silicone hose arrangements that are submersible.
