Wireless Charging Pad Issues

I place my iPhone on the wireless charging pad and it says charging but it slowly drains the battery instead of charging. I’ve tried no case and different orientations like upside down. I’m assuming the new iPhone camera bump makes it hard for the phone to get contact. Anyone have a solution?

I'm attaching an excerpt from the owners manual. There are multiple pages which discuss wireless charging alone. Standards, capabilities, limitations, requirements and t-shooting. One of those requirements does involve cameras and how far they protrude from the camera body.
