Looking for a rock-solid bed access solution for your Tacoma? The Wolfbox Retractable Bed Step is precision-engineered to fit the 2016-2023 Tacoma, and the 2024-2026 Tacoma. Whether you're reaching for tools or organizing heavy payload, our step eliminates the struggle, providing a stable, low-profile entry point to your rig.

Why Tacoma Owners Love It:
  • Swift Kick Deployment: No hand-operated levers or complex wiring. A simple nudge with your boot engages the spring-loaded mechanism for instant access—perfect for when you're geared up for the trail.
  • Trail-Tough Construction: Crafted from high-strength, die-cast aluminum alloy to support 330 lbs. It’s lightweight yet incredibly rigid, built to survive the vibrations of washboard roads and rugged terrain.
  • True OEM-Style Fit: Custom-designed brackets utilize Tacoma factory mounting points for a 100% no-drill, bolt-on installation. Upgrading your rig has never been this seamless.
  • High-Clearance Stealth: Engineered to tuck tightly under the rear bumper. It stays out of the way of rocks and brush, preserving your Tacoma’s off-road departure angle.
  • All-Weather Grit: Finished with a textured black powder coat to resist corrosion from mud, sand, and road salt, featuring a high-traction surface for wet or muddy boots.

I have a few questions.

Is the whole product aluminum? Looks like it but please confirm.

Will you be making one for the left (driver) side of the Tacoma?

Will the current product conflict with the Trailhunter OEM Toyota/ARB recovery point? If so, will the SXTH bed step relocation bracket work with your product to deconflict and permit retention of the recovery point?

Thank you
-Lauren

The mounting bracket is made of carbon steel, while the connecting rod and step surface are made of aluminum.

The current version is only compatible with the passenger side. We will take this request into consideration.

The red ARB tow hook that comes standard with the Trailhunter is not compatible with our rear step. If you wish to install the step, you must first remove the red tow hook.

Do you have an axle-dump exhaust on your TH @lauren01? I think the reason why it won't work on the left (driver's) side of the Taco is b/c the twin exhaust tips extend out on that side. Even if you attach the SXTH Element relocation bracket with the bed step, there probably won't be enough clearance for the bed step to fully retract and fit properly on the left side.

I just remembered something. SXTH Element relocation bracket is specifically designed to mount on the right side, NOT the left. So even if WOLFBOX eventually makes a left-sided bed step for the 4G Taco; the SXTH Element relocation bracket still wouldn't work b/c it wasn't designed for that side. If you do decide to go that route, you'd end up losing the rear left recovery hook but then it wouldn't look symmetrical anymore.

Yes Sir, part of the Trailhunter’s charm is that it is the model that comes stock with the axle dump exhaust. If Wolfbox were smart, they would design an optional extension bracket for the Toyota ARB recovery points on each side. Lots of folks have added those recovery points if they didn’t come stock like they do on the top trims.

Tundras have exhaust on the left and bed step on the left (and the newer ones are electric as far as I am aware from when I was test driving them an early 2025).

My thinking is that many of us would like bed steps on both sides if we could get them. Bed access needs to be easier. If Toyota is going to make me do handsprings to get into my truck then hopefully aftermarket can fix what ails me. I’m 5’1” I have observed that people of various heights have at least some trouble getting in and out of the bed.

Thank you for your input, sir. I'll pass this to our product manager in the hope of improving the product.

I asked SXTH Element when the relocation bracket came out, if they could invert the file for the left side and they said they could. I never found an inverted step surface to try it.

I’m tempted to buy a Tundra cheapie and see how to mangle it to try and get it mounted.

Got to finish other projects before I consider it.
