I've been eye-balling the Kuat IBEX bed rack and was hopeful someone is running it and can give their thoughts. I don't have any plans for an RTT. Instead I want the kayak mounts, so not really worried about weight capacity.

More interested in thoughts on value for the cost (this setup is a bit over $3,000), adaptability with the molle panels, how easy the molle panels are to remove and put back if desired, any reduction in MPG, and overall happiness with the purchase.

Thanks in advance!

I have the ibex rack/molle panels/bike rack/riser kit and it works well. All together I paid about $5K CND. The Intrepid tent was another $5K CND. I think the overall value of my setup is fair but knowing what I know now I would get a off-road camper (i.e. Super Pacific) for twice the price and get twice the usability (you get a fully enclosed bed for your gear and the ability to stand up when the tent is open. That's what I plan on doing when I get my 2026 TRD PRO.

I dont have any experience with the IBEX bed rack, but I do have this one from Backwoods Adventure Mods. It has been awesome and has a lot of available accessories. Has panels that can be placed on top and fully deck the roof/bedrack if needed. Adds a lot of quick release attachment points and makes it a lot more functional. The box added to the side is also awesome and adds a ton of dry storage for Gear/Tools. The Kuat Kayak racks are also able to be used on this rack. All their products are also made in the USA and seem to be cheaper priced than that rack. Its definitely an awesome one! Tough as nails!

I have the Ibex and haven’t noticed any decrease in mileage. After about a month of using it I added the panel kit. That didn’t affect my mileage either.

Oh! That's nice. I didn't realize you could make it fully enclosed! That's an added bonus.

Nice setup! I just put together the panel kit on my Ibex. If I may ask, how did you wire the third break light?

I ordered the brake light wiring harness from GG Offroad. It connects to the 3rd brake light so you have to pull down the headliner and then run it through one of the grommets under the rear seat.

I looked at that, but it seems like a difficult job. Did you already install it? Just curious if it was plug and play and what you did with the bare wires from the third brake light that came with the kit.

Yes, it is installed. It does plug directly into the third brake light but you do need to splice the Kuat light to the wires. I thought it was easy but it does take some time to do. I just put some heat shrink on the bed light wire and haven’t used it.
