Hey guys I need some advice. This has been happening ever since I bought the car (2025 SR5 Mil: 1,800)

I can feel and lightly hear (only hear it when in an enclosed space like parking garage) a small thumping/rattling in the steering wheel when turning about 45° right while moving slow to med speeds. I only feel it in the steering wheel and only notice it when turning to the right.

I only feel it when theres wheel play, like a bumb or uneven road. I dont hear or feeling anything when parked and turn the wheel.

Its my first brand new car so when i heard it at first I thought the car is brand new it must be normal. But i dont know maybe someone here has experience with this? The chatgpt answers ive gotten havent given me much confidence.

Maybe im being hypersensitive because its a new car i dont know.

That’s abnormal. If that were happening to me, I would go to the Toyota service center to check as a warranty item. It does not have to be where you bought your vehicle. It can be that dealer or a place you might like more or just want to check out.

yeah i just didnt know if it was something that theyll say they cant replicate or that a little thumping on the steering wheel is normal while going on bumpy or uneven ground

if it happens to you consistently, then they should see the problem and address it.

It could be the suspension not torqued properly. I saw a video that describes that problem. She shows it somewhere in the middle of the video.

Yeah I saw that, she describes a popping sound. Mine is more of a rattling sound

I noticed the left front CV axle inner joint housing has a lot of surface rust. Is this normal for a new vehicle?

This sounds a lot like my issue. Have you ever figured out or learned to live with it. I could live with it if someone tells me that is normal. It's not super bad but noticeable especially since I don't feel it turning left.

I noticed the following:

  • Light vibration/pulsation in the steering wheel at a slight right turn (clockwise) 30-50 mph.
  • ~45 deg steering angle clockwise at a right turn.
  • No vibration driving straight or turning left (counter-clockwise).
  • No vibration is noticeable in the chassis, only in the steering wheel.
  • wheels were rebalanced at the dealer but issue still there
I posted my issue here
