Our other cars are ICE non-hybrid and have auto stop (stop-start) like our hybrid Tacoma. One is a CVT and the other a manual trans.
Some of the robust OBD scan tools supposedly let the user disable Toyotaās stop-start process. Mine lets me access the process, shows an option to turn it off...
Thanks a bunch for your input. I am also relieved not to have a new transmission and probably engine if it had trashed it.
One thing that was assuring is that they mentioned this is in their system; there is a report into Toyota about it. I also saw a TSB referenced in the paperwork, so this...
Update: I have my truck (2025 Trailhunter) back with a reflashed ECU.
Toyota technician pulled code P21199B (Confirmed Short) associated with throttle actuator A, as shown on the report and warranty receipt provided (pics attached). This is one of the known causes of the truck going into limp...

Made a list of all the items to check to make sure are still in/on the truck when I get it back from warranty service. Still waiting to hear whatās wrong.

Iām waiting at home this morning for the dealer to diagnose my truck. Interesting, got a push notification from the Toyota app that the truck has been opened (unlocked) including the hood.
All makes a ton of sense to me. Having test driven 3G Tacomas two years ago, manual and automatic, as well as 4Runners, they were horrible.
it is likely I will be quite happy once they have my Trailhunter running as it was before this breakage happened. I love the truck.
I wish they would...
