Good work, it sounds like you have figured this out. My seats are silent now but if they start making noises again I will check the struts out. It will be interesting to see what your dealer has to say about that.
That is how I see your problem too. I can understand them not pulling from the production line and shit happens, so I don't blame them for the failure. But not being able to get you a part for months on end is just unacceptable IMO. The sell these as options for other trims, so it seems like...
@Coast My wipers are noisy every once in a while, but never for very long. Usually after a couple of whiny wipes the noise goes away.
They make more noise if I haven't used them for a while, and the noise is most irritating when using intermittent. Some people had that improve after their...
I agree. My RCI sliders sit under the bed just a bit, and they would touch if they sat as high as yours do. Here are a couple of pictures showing that I have about 1.5" clearance between the sliders and the bottom of my bed side.
Yep - my truck does have a starter motor. After thinking about it I realized that I only hear a normal starter sound when the engine is first started, and then the M/G restarts the ICE whenever the hybrid system has shut it off.
I have not looked to see if my truck has a starter motor or not. The early descriptions of the Taco hybrid system said that the ICE is started by the M/G, but that does not mean there isn't separate starter motor also. I guess it is time to crawl under there and take a look.
Interesting. So do the Tacos with alternators also have a seperate starter motor? That would mean that the 2025 Tacoma hybrids are significantly different than the 2024s.
None of the issues with the GM problems or the Tundra engines seem to be due to inadequate lubrication, but they all share having debris in the cases from poor QC during assembly. So I don't think a different oil viscosity would make much difference if the engines are full of foreign matter from...
Welcome @SNofRANDY!
Nice truck, and super jealous of your S2000, which I see peeking out from behind your 4Runner. They both look great in white and are a wise choice living in the desert.
@Ron that is interesting. I wonder if that might also be part of why 4th gen hybrids seldom achieve their EPA mileage numbers. Did Toyota, the masters of hybrid tech, manage to screw the pooch on this drivetrain? And what about owners of 2024 hybrids? Toyota obviously added the alternator to...
I should have said the 4wd system in all the 4th gens except the Limited is not designed for on road performance.
It would be interesting to see the numbers for the full time 4wd Limited hybrid. That is a totally different system and I would expect it to perform much better than the part time...
This is not really a surprise to me. The 4WD system in these trucks is designed for off road traction, and not for on road acceleration. That is not a bad 0-60 time btw - most testers must be doing their runs in 4WD because the numbers are often in the low 7 second range.
I don't think that any of us thought much about this until we realized that Toyota added alternators to most 2025 hybrids. Your analysis shows that our batteries are not being kept at the proper levels all of the time.
The 12v battery can only be charged by the motor/generator in 2024 models...
Yep - there is probably nothing that we can do, and I don't expect that Toyota will add alternators to the 2024s.
After my truck was in the detail shop for a week getting PPF it would not hold its CarPlay connection until I had driven it for about 15 miles. Looking back on that I think the 12v...
Our trucks not keeping their 12v batteries charged is probably why they added an alternator to hybrids for the 2025 model year. Toyota must have realized that keeping the battery charged with just the motor/generator was not enough, but what about those of us who bought 2024 hybrids without an...
I also am wondering where it is going to be made, and who will make it. Is it a startup or something from an established automaker? I have never seen that discussed so far.
@Xjim My dash display doesn't keep its settings either. I get it just the way I want it and eventually everything from the displayed items to the background change for no known reason.
